Materials List

Hook: Any streamer hook, this ones a Mustad 3xl #2

Thread: Red 6/0

Flash: Pearl flashabou

Tail: White marabou

Rib: Red wire

Hackle: White saddle hackle

Body: Pink chenille

Collar hackle: Red saddle hackle

Step 1 - Insert the hook into the vice and wrap the shank with thread.

Step 2 - Tie in a small bunch of flashabou. Don't overdue the flash. With the magnification of water, a little bit looks like enough. While what looks to be adequate dry ends up being way too much under water.

Step 3 - Tie in a nice fluffy tail. Use a little more than you think is needed. Marabou shrinks down greatly in the water so a large tail when it's dry will look perfectly sized when wet.

Step 4 - Tie in the rib

Step 5 - Tie in the hackle feather, tip end first

Step 6 - With your fingernail, peel off a little bit of the chenille revealing the string underneath and tie it in. Peeling off the excess prevents the body from being disproportionate in the rear.

Step 7 (optional) - Wrap on some lead wire for weight.

Step 8 - Go up and down the shank a few times with the thread securing the lead in place.

Step 9 - Wrap the chenille up in nice even turns and tie it off.

Step 10 - Wrap the white hackle forward and tie it off.

Step 11 - Carefully wrap the wire up through the hackle being observant not to bind any of the hackle fibers under.

Step 12 - Tie in and wrap the red hackle right before the head. Use your fingers to hold the hackles back and wrap a nice even head and then tie it off & cement.

Finished fly!!! Drift this guy in front of a nice ‘bow or dolly and hold on!!!!
