Materials List

Hook: reg. salmon type hook #6-2/0

Thread: pink 6/0

Antenna: 2-3 strands of flashabou mirage Shell back: pink synthetic fiber

Body: pink dubbing

Eyes: Mono dumbbells

Legs: pink polar flash

LETS GET TYING!!

Step 1- Insert the hook into the vice and coat the shank with thread. Then tie in the antenna so they hang off the bend a considerable distance; approx. the length of another hook shank.

Step 2- Tie the mono eyes in. Use figure 8 wraps to secure them. It’s best to wrap a few times, hit it with some glue, wrap a few more times, then add some more glue. That way the glue is actually part of the wraps and not just soaking in from the top when you’re done.

Step 3- Select a section of the shellback. Tie it in pointing off the bend.

Step 4- Move the thread so you’re even with the barb of the hook and dub forward to just beyond the eyes.

Step 5- Take a few strands of the polar flash and tie them in. Just lay them parallel to the hook shank, make a few wraps, then take the opposite side and pull it back towards the bend and tie it down. That way they’re both facing backwards.

Step 6- Dub another section of body

Step 7- Tie in another bunch of legs

Step 8- More dubbing, more legs, you get the idea!

Step 9- Now flip the fly over and tie in a clump of flash for the underside. Make it long enough, but not too long that it clogs the hook point.

Step 10- Take the shellback and pull it over the top of the fly securing it at the eye.

Step 11- Tie the thread off and hit it with some glue.

The tying portion is done.

Step 12- Grab a black sharpie and color the eyes, make some spots on the shellback for mottling, you can also hit the antenna with it if you like. It sometimes makes for a neat look.

That’s it! The fly is done. Show it to some silvers and see if they remember their childhood.

I bet they will!!!!
