INTRODUCTION
I’ve only fished this fly a couple of times, but to me it has all the characteristics of a great fly. It has famous attraction due to the flashabou and pink underbody. The hackle breaths and flows providing movement. Most of all though the shape, at least to me just looks like something alive when it’s in the water. This fly is quite easy to tie and you can vary the colors and materials to suit your own needs.
Materials List
Hook: basic salmon hook size #10-2
Thread: pink 6/0
Tail/shellback: pearl flashabou
Hackle: white saddle hackle
Body: chenille
LETS GET TYING!!

Step 1 - Insert the hook in the vice and wrap the shank with thread

Step 2 - Select a good sized clump of the flashabou. Tie it in just where the hook begins to go into the bend. Keep the rear pointing piece small and leave quite a bit hanging up towards the front.

Step3 - Wrap the thread forward to about the 2/3 point of the hook shank covering up the flash. Now take the forward pointing flash and fold it back over the body. Tie it down so it looks like you made another big piece of tail. A few drops of cement keep everything in place.

Step 4 - Tie in tip first a couple of white saddle hackles. To get a more sparse fly you can just use one.

Step 5 - Strip the material off a piece of chenille and tie it in right next to the hackle tips.

Step 6 - Take the chenille and wrap it forward leaving plenty of room near the eye.

Step 7 - Wrap the hackle or hackles forward, tie them off, and clip off the excess.

Step a8 - Take your fingers and separate the hackle fibers over the top. Just pull them gently off to the side.

Step 8 - Grasp the longer pieces of flash and pull them up over the back and towards the eye of the hook. When you have it positioned where you want, tie it down tight. A little cement isn’t a bad idea here.

Step 9 - Wrap up a nice even head and tie the fly off. Cement it good too.

Step 10 - Last step is to even up the tail. Just grab the tail fibers and cut them so they are all about the same length. They should be just a little ways off the bend of the hook.
The fly is now finished. Have fun with this one. It’s a really great looking fly. Show it to some fish and I bet they’ll agree.
